Here at Printed Panels, we have created a way to protect the ink layer, making our clear prints more suitable for heavy duty applications. Eg Keyring tags etc
UV printed inks can be damaged by oils, solvents, glues or physical contact against sharp objects. This protective layer can now be purchased in addition to any clear acrylic prints, and adds a durable protective layer over the back of the ink. Please don’t confuse this with a simple protective film that comes on most acrylics. This is a strong and highly durable permanent protective layer.
If you purchase this upgrade, Printed Panels will permanently adhere a very thin yet strong hard plastic layer to the back of a print (refer to image below). Simply select the size you need to match your clear print and then add to the cart the quantity of prints you wish to have this protective layer added. If you are adding this option to only certain patterns that you’ve purchased, then you will need to reply to the order confirmation email and highlight which patterns you want the protective layer added.
Benefits:
– Protects ink from physical contact/abrasion
– Protects ink from glues and other surface cleaning products
– Isolates the ink layer so it doesn’t touch skin (blocking out oils / sweat etc)
– Is very thin and almost invisible to the side profile of the material
Key points:
– Only available with clear printed acrylics (2mm and 3mm reverse printed clear)
– The protective plastic layer is laser safe
– The plastic layer is a opaque white colour with a gloss finish.
– The plastic layer is primarily designed to protect the ink layer and becomes the back of the product.
– This rear layer does not have a protective film itself so it may incur very minor surface marks from the application process.
– Occasionally static may cause a stray bit of debris to be trapped under the protective layer. This is extremely rare, but this may occur.
– Like always, only cut materials in an enclosed machine with adequate fume extraction vented outdoors.
